Clip Shelf is a browser extension for collecting images selected by the user, arranging them into clips or boards, copying them, and downloading saved batches. This policy explains what information Clip Shelf handles and how it is used.
Summary
Clip Shelf does not have a developer-operated server. It does not create user accounts, show advertising, run analytics in the extension, sell data, or send saved images or browsing information to the developer or to data brokers. The extension processes and stores its working data locally in the user's browser.
Information Clip Shelf handles
When the user chooses an image, Clip Shelf handles:
- the selected image and a generated thumbnail;
- the image URL and the address of the source page;
- the image dimensions and the time it was added;
- the user's shelf, board, copy-format, auto-copy, and interface preferences.
To provide an add button on images and find the best available version, the extension may inspect image elements and image URLs on the page currently open in the browser. Clip Shelf does not build or store a general browsing history. A page address is stored only as metadata for an image the user explicitly adds.
How the information is used
Clip Shelf uses this information only to provide its user-facing features: saving selected images, showing the shelf and history, finding a larger version of an image, composing clips or boards, copying images to the clipboard, restoring saved batches, opening the original source page, and downloading a batch at the user's request.
Storage, retention, and deletion
Saved images and metadata are stored locally with chrome.storage.local. The current shelf holds up to 60 images. Overflow and cleared batches move to History, which keeps up to 200 images; older batches are deleted automatically. Users can remove an image, clear History, or uninstall the extension to delete locally stored extension data. Downloaded files remain in the user's download folder until the user deletes them.
Network requests
When the user adds or downloads an image, Clip Shelf requests that image from the website that hosts it. The request goes directly from the user's browser to that website and is subject to that website's privacy practices. Existing website credentials may be included only when the image host has the same origin as the source page. Cross-origin image requests omit credentials. Clip Shelf does not receive or store those credentials.
Sharing and sale
Clip Shelf does not transmit saved images, source-page addresses, preferences, or usage data to the developer. It does not sell user data. It does not share user data with advertisers, analytics providers, data brokers, or other third parties. Data leaves local extension storage only when the user directs the browser to copy it to the clipboard, download it, open the source page, or paste it into another application.
Chrome Web Store Limited Use
Clip Shelf's use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. The information is used only to provide or improve Clip Shelf's single purpose and is not used for advertising, credit decisions, or unrelated purposes.
Children
Clip Shelf is a general-purpose productivity tool and is not directed to children under 13. It does not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Waitlist on this website
The Clip Shelf website offers a waitlist before the extension is published. If you join it, the email address you enter is collected and stored by the email service that runs the waitlist, together with a short label for where you found the site, such as the referring website. If the confirmation email is turned on, you also receive one message confirming that you joined. It is used only to send you one message when Clip Shelf becomes available, and it is never sold or shared for marketing. The extension itself never receives this address. To be removed from the waitlist, contact us through the support channel and we will delete your address.
Analytics on this website
The Clip Shelf website may use Google Analytics to count visits and understand which pages are useful. It runs only after you press Accept on the cookie notice; if you decline or ignore the notice, no analytics cookies are set and nothing is sent to Google. When it runs, Google Analytics receives information such as the pages you view, your browser and device type, an approximate location derived from your connection, and the site that referred you. Google signals and ad personalisation are turned off. Google processes this data under its own privacy policy. You can change your choice at any time with the Cookie settings link at the bottom of every page. The extension itself never uses analytics.
Images shown on this website
The photos, posters and artwork shown on the Clip Shelf website and in its product film were collected from public inspiration sites. They are used only to demonstrate how the extension works. Clip Shelf does not own these images and claims no copyright or other rights in them. Every image remains the property of its creator. Clip Shelf does not sell, license or redistribute them. If you created one of these images and would like it credited differently or removed, contact us through the support channel and we will act on the request promptly.
Changes
If Clip Shelf's data practices change, this policy and the extension's in-product disclosure will be updated before the new practices take effect. The effective date above will also be updated.
